I remember seeing this quote a while back. He wasn’t actually responding to him being bad at writing women, but this explains so many things…

Maybe your preferences are routinely mocked because they’re mockable and stupid. And maybe this only happens to men who have 10-year-old tastes at 30. Kind of the way Steve from Coupling has that thing with lesbians, which is completely mockable. Not because it’s silly for men to get off on faux-lesbian porn, but because his obsession with it is at the level of a pre-pubescent boy.
